Crew Carwash aims to be a go-to solution for these needs, offering a straightforward approach to vehicle care that integrates into busy urban lifestyles.
So, if you're in Indianapolis, IN, and considering Crew Carwash for your vehicle's next clean, read on for a factual overview to help you make an informed decision about your car care needs.
Crew Carwash in Indianapolis, Indiana, is conveniently located to serve a significant portion of the city's population. You can find this car wash at the following address:
1501 E 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240, USA
This address places Crew Carwash on East 86th Street, which is a major east-west arterial road in the northern part of Indianapolis. This strategic location ensures excellent visibility and straightforward access for drivers. East 86th Street is a busy corridor, often connecting residential areas with commercial districts, retail centers, and other amenities.
For Indianapolis locals, particularly those living in the 46240 zip code and surrounding northern suburbs, this car wash is highly accessible. Its presence on a main road means it's easy to incorporate a wash into daily commutes, errand runs, or weekend activities without significant detours. Crew Carwash locations are typically designed for efficient traffic flow, aiming to minimize wait times even during peak hours, further enhancing accessibility. While one reviewer mentioned their past location choice was driven by being "in the area" and needing a wash, this specific address is generally considered a prime spot for convenience within Indianapolis, making it a practical choice for a quick and easy car wash.
Crew Carwash specializes in automated express exterior car washes, designed for speed and efficiency. They typically offer a range of wash packages, allowing customers to choose based on their desired level of clean and protection. Based on common Crew Carwash offerings, you can expect services that pass your vehicle through a modern wash tunnel:
Basic Wash: This foundational package typically includes a soft-touch wash that removes surface dirt and grime, followed by a rinse and powerful blow dry.
Deluxe Wash: An upgraded option that often adds features such as an undercarriage wash (crucial for removing road salt and grime, especially important during Indiana winters), wheel cleaning, and potentially a basic clear coat protectant for added shine.
Premium Wash: This higher-tier package builds upon the Deluxe, commonly including additional treatments like triple foam polish, advanced clear coat protectants, and enhanced drying agents for a superior shine and water repellency.
Ultimate/Signature Wash: The top-tier package, usually offering the most comprehensive exterior clean and protection. This often includes features like Rain-X surface protectant, tire shine application, more intensive wheel cleaning, and potentially a powerful bug removal treatment. This level is designed to provide maximum shine, protection, and a streak-free finish.
Add-on Services: Some locations may offer specific add-ons such as bug prep (as noted in one review, some bugs might not be touched by a standard wash), or interior cleaning amenities (though Crew Carwash focuses primarily on exterior services, many locations have free vacuums).
Crew Carwash also heavily promotes its monthly unlimited wash membership plans, allowing customers to wash their vehicles as often as they like for a recurring fee. These memberships typically come in various tiers corresponding to the wash packages.
However, it's critical to note based on a customer review that the effectiveness of the wash can be a point of concern: "As you can see in the pictures, this is what my car looked like After 11.95 car wash, I am beyond angered. Long black streaks on my car from the tunnel, Bugs not even touched." This indicates that despite the services offered, the actual cleaning performance may not always meet customer expectations, even for paid washes.
Crew Carwash in Indianapolis, IN, presents several features and highlights that are typically attractive to customers seeking a quick and convenient car wash. However, recent customer feedback also highlights significant issues that impact the overall user experience.
Automated Tunnel Wash System: The primary feature of Crew Carwash is its reliance on an automated tunnel wash. This system is designed for speed and efficiency, allowing vehicles to pass through quickly, making it ideal for busy individuals in Indianapolis who need a fast clean.
Range of Wash Packages: Crew Carwash offers multiple tiers of wash packages (Basic, Deluxe, Premium, Ultimate/Signature) allowing customers to choose the level of cleaning and protection that suits their needs and budget. These packages often include advanced features like undercarriage washes, protective coatings (e.g., Rain-X, ceramic-like applications), and tire shine.
Unlimited Monthly Memberships: A major draw for frequent users is the option of unlimited monthly wash memberships. This allows customers to wash their vehicles as often as they wish for a flat monthly fee, providing great value for those who want to keep their cars consistently clean throughout Indiana's varied seasons.
Focus on Exterior Cleaning: Crew Carwash primarily focuses on exterior cleaning, providing a streamlined service. Many of their locations also offer free self-service vacuums as an added amenity, allowing customers to clean their interiors after the automatic wash. (Specific confirmation for this location's vacuum availability is not in reviews, but is common for the chain).
However, several critical negative highlights emerge from recent customer reviews that significantly impact the perceived quality and customer experience at this specific location:
Poor Customer Service from Staff and Management: This is a recurring and strong point of contention. One customer reported being spoken to "like…you can’t sit at this table…" and found both the attendant and manager "sub par in my book as far as customer service is concerned." Another mentioned the operations manager, Matt, offering to wipe off streaks but overall the interaction being unsatisfactory after a poor wash result. This indicates a consistent issue with staff politeness, helpfulness, and problem resolution.
Inconsistent or Ineffective Cleaning Results: Despite paying for a wash, a customer was "beyond angered" by "Long black streaks on my car from the tunnel, Bugs not even touched." This is a fundamental failure for a car wash and suggests that the equipment or process may not be consistently delivering a thorough clean, even for basic dirt and bugs.
Policy Issues/Lack of Flexibility: One customer with a monthly membership from a different location was "not let me go through the wash" at this particular Crew Carwash due to their truck's modifications (welder generator in the bed, tire size). While safety policies exist, the "rude" manner in which this was communicated and the manager's refusal suggest a lack of flexibility or effective communication regarding such situations, even for a member of their own brand.
General Dissatisfaction: The sentiment "They will never get another dollar of my money" and "I can do a better job with a bucket and a sponge" highlights severe dissatisfaction with both the service quality and the customer interaction.
These significant negative points suggest that while Crew Carwash generally offers convenient services, this specific Indianapolis location faces substantial challenges in consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.
For those in Indianapolis, Indiana, seeking to contact or locate Crew Carwash at this specific location, here is their available information:
Address: 1501 E 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240, USA
Phone: (317) 983-7707
Mobile Phone: +1 317-983-7707
These contact details provide direct avenues for inquiries about services, membership plans, or for attempting to resolve issues encountered at the location. The physical address ensures easy navigation to the facility, while the phone numbers offer a way to communicate directly with staff or management during operational hours.
For the residents of Indianapolis, Indiana, Crew Carwash at 1501 E 86th St presents itself as a conveniently located option for express exterior car washing. Its suitability for locals, however, is significantly undermined by recurring and severe customer complaints regarding service quality and staff interactions.
On the positive side, the location on East 86th Street is excellent for accessibility, making it a quick stop for those in the northern parts of Indianapolis. The express tunnel wash model is inherently appealing to busy Hoosiers who need a fast wash. The availability of various wash packages and, importantly, unlimited monthly memberships, offers flexibility and potential cost savings for those who want to keep their cars regularly clean, which is essential given Indiana's diverse weather conditions that can quickly dirty a vehicle. For a quick wash, the concept is sound.
However, the most critical concerns from local users directly impact the fundamental value proposition of a car wash. Reports of the wash leaving "Long black streaks" and "Bugs not even touched" after a paid wash indicate a significant failure in the core service. A car wash, regardless of its speed, must effectively clean a vehicle. When customers feel they "can do a better job with a bucket and a sponge," it points to a serious flaw in the system's performance. For Indianapolis drivers seeking a proper clean, this inconsistency is a major deterrent.
Furthermore, the numerous complaints about "sub par" and "rude" customer service from both attendants and management are highly problematic. A local business thrives on positive interactions and effective problem resolution. When staff are perceived as unhelpful or impolite, and issues like streaks or policy interpretations (as with the truck with modifications) are handled poorly, it damages trust and makes customers unwilling to return. The refusal to allow a member to wash their truck, despite having a membership to the same brand, highlights a rigid and unaccommodating approach that alienates customers.
In conclusion, while Crew Carwash on E 86th St offers the promise of a convenient and rapid car wash experience for Indianapolis residents, the consistent and severe negative feedback regarding cleaning effectiveness and customer service significantly diminishes its suitability as a reliable and preferred local option. For a car wash to truly serve its community, it must deliver on its primary function of cleaning cars effectively and provide a welcoming, professional environment. Based on recent reviews, this particular location appears to be falling short on both counts, leading many locals to seek alternatives for their vehicle care needs.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have a monthly membership to Prime. They have no problem with the welder generator in the bed of my truck or the size of my tires. I was in the area & my truck was very dirty. I stopped at this place & the way they spoke to me was like…you can’t sit at this table…they were very rude. They did not let me go through the wash. Both the attendant & the manger were sub par in my book as far as customer service is concerned.

May 07, 2024 · LuAnna HowardHorrible experience - I purchased a basic wash. While I was about to exit the wash, the rolling door closed prematurely in front of my car.I had to step on the brakes and hop a few rollers to prevent my car from plunging into the rolling door. The carwash also did not detect the hopped roller so the wash continued to run with another car coming up behind me. I honked my horn frantically and a team member stopped the wash. My license plate holder on the front of the car was pressing into one of the plastic film sections of the door.Andy, the general manager on duty, came and manually opened the door. He walked out to inspect my car with me to ensure there wasn't any damage. Thankfully there wasn't any.The conversation ended and Andy walked away. I tried to brush it off but as I was driving back home, I became very frustrated that Andy didn't offer any concessions due to my horrible experience.I am a former Team Lead, so thankfully I was comfortable enough to step on the brakes and hop a few rollers. If I wasn't a former employee, I'm afraid I would've ended up allowing the carwash to roll my car into the door, costing thousands of dollars to the carwash.I decided to drive back into the carwash and request my wash be refunded. Andy asked if I would like a free unlimited wash instead. I declined and just wanted my $12 back and told him I'd take the free wash for next time if he'd be willing to give it to me as well. We went inside and my money was refunded. He did not offer the free unlimited wash.Andy did NOT value the customer during this poor experience like Crew Carwash is known for. I will not be going back.
Dec 30, 2024 · Evan FoleyBeware! You might get car damage from this Crew location! My car did and Crew only agreed to pay part of the repair!, even though they acknowledged this location caused the damage. They do Not stand behind their business nor its customers if their wash causes damage to your car.*If the owners reply to this comment, don't believe what they say because they are going to 'say anything' to try to dismiss an accurate, bad review. Also I already spoke with their claims department. They are the ones who are refusing to cover the total costs.
Oct 02, 2024 · mark ImI've always appreciated the excellent service at Crew Carwash, but I've noticed that the large American flag displayed can be a bit overwhelming for our small neighborhood. Specifically in this area it is the tallest object for several blocks. While I understand the importance of showcasing patriotism, the sheer size of the flag has become a distraction. The community would appreciate if you could consider resizing the flag to a more suitable scale. This is really needed to maintain the flag's significance for our great nation as more than just an advertisement for your business and create a more comfortable environment for everyone in the community.
