Stopped here to get a car wash on my travels and only had a 20 dollar bill.... the best wash was 10.... the machine told me to take My change an drive forward.. 👀🤔 where's my change? 🤷‍♂️ I got the wash an came back around to find a number or maybe get a 2nd wash if machine registered the 20.... that was not the case...I looked for a number on building to call... I looked up on Google maps an there is no email, phone, or even name of owner???🤔I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WASH FOR ANYONE......ONLY REASON THEY RECIEVED 2 STARS IS FOR THE SOAP AN WATER IT PUT OUT.Wash did not clean my vehicle, air dryers did not dry My vehicle, and no one to be responsible to give me back my change, makes this a bad ordeal... - Tim Young

Car & Truck wash Introduce

For folks navigating the roads of Illinois, especially those in smaller communities like Mazon, keeping a vehicle clean is a regular part of maintenance. Our cars and trucks endure everything from farm dust and road grime to the unpredictable Midwestern weather. When it's time for a wash, we often look for a convenient and reliable spot. Today, we're taking a look at a local self-service option: the Car & Truck Wash located at 608 East St in Mazon.

This Car & Truck Wash aims to provide a straightforward solution for individuals who prefer to take a hands-on approach to cleaning their vehicles. Unlike automated drive-through washes, self-service facilities offer more control over the washing process, allowing users to focus on specific areas of their car or truck. We'll delve into the location and accessibility of this particular wash, outline the services it intends to offer, and discuss key aspects highlighted by local users. It's important for residents in Illinois to have a clear understanding of what to expect when choosing a local car wash option.

In Illinois, our vehicles are an essential part of daily life, whether for commuting, working, or enjoying leisure activities. Regular cleaning is not just about aesthetics; it's also crucial for protecting your vehicle's paint and finish from environmental wear and tear, including road salt during winter months and general grime accumulation. For residents of Mazon, a local car wash should ideally be a dependable resource for maintaining their vehicles' condition.

So, if you're in Mazon, IL, and considering the Car & Truck Wash for your vehicle's next clean, read on for a factual overview based on available information and customer experiences. We aim to provide a clear picture to help you make an informed decision for your car or truck care needs.

The Car & Truck Wash is located in the community of Mazon, Illinois. Its address is:

  • 608 East St, Mazon, IL 60444, USA

This location places the Car & Truck Wash on East Street within Mazon, a small town in Grundy County. For residents of Mazon and the surrounding rural areas of Illinois, this address indicates a local, easily accessible spot for car and truck washing needs. Being within the town itself means it's likely a familiar and straightforward destination for community members.

Accessibility for a self-service car wash like this one typically means easy pull-in and pull-out access to the wash bays, designed to accommodate both cars and larger vehicles like trucks, as its name suggests. Given that Mazon is a smaller community, traffic congestion is generally not a major concern, which can make accessing the car wash less stressful than in larger urban centers. Its primary purpose is to serve the immediate local population and potentially travelers passing through the area who require a quick or manual wash option. The clear address provides direct navigation for anyone in Mazon seeking this type of facility.

The Car & Truck Wash in Mazon is designed as a self-service facility, meaning it provides the equipment and chemicals for users to wash their own vehicles. Based on typical self-service car wash offerings and the provided customer reviews, here are the services and features that are intended to be available:

  • High-Pressure Wash: This is a standard feature in self-service bays, allowing users to rinse off loose dirt and grime with a powerful stream of water.

  • Soap / Chemical Dispenser: The facility is intended to provide various cleaning chemicals, including:

    • Soap: Designed for cleaning the vehicle's exterior. Customer reviews confirm that soap (or at least the mechanism for it) is intended to be available.

    • Wax: For applying a protective coating to the vehicle's paint.

  • Air Dryers: Equipment designed to help dry vehicles after washing, aimed at preventing water spots.

  • Payment Machine (Cash/Card/Change): A machine for accepting payment, including large bills, and theoretically dispensing change, to operate the wash bay services.

However, it is critically important to note that while these services are typically offered at self-service car washes, customer reviews for this specific location indicate significant and persistent issues with their functionality. Specifically, recent reviews mention:

  • "No soap past 4 months."

  • "Update march 2025 over a year and still broken. No soap. Nothing works but the rinse."

  • "Update December 23rd. Heard there was new owners. Nothing has changed. No soap no wax. Nothing works for change/card etc."

  • "Wash did not clean my vehicle, air dryers did not dry My vehicle."

These recurring issues suggest that while the car wash is intended to provide a range of cleaning services, their actual availability and effectiveness have been severely compromised over an extended period.

The Car & Truck Wash in Mazon, IL, aims to offer several features common to self-service car washes, but recent customer feedback highlights significant operational challenges that impact these features.

  • Self-Service Control: The primary feature of a self-service car wash is that it gives the user direct control over the washing process. This means individuals can apply soap, rinse, and wax their vehicles at their own pace and focus on specific areas as needed. This hands-on approach is often preferred by those who want a more thorough or personalized clean than an automatic wash might provide.

  • Ability to Wash Larger Vehicles: As indicated by its name, "Car & Truck Wash," this facility is designed to accommodate both standard cars and larger trucks, providing bays with sufficient height and space. This is a crucial feature for the rural Illinois community of Mazon, where truck ownership is common.

However, the most prominent "features" highlighted by recent customer reviews are unfortunately negative, indicating a severe decline in functionality and maintenance:

  • Non-Functional Soap and Wax Dispensers: Multiple reviews spanning over a year (from December 2023 to March 2025) consistently state "No soap," "No soap no wax," and "Nothing works but the rinse." This means fundamental cleaning agents are unavailable, rendering the wash largely ineffective beyond a basic rinse.

  • Inoperable Payment System: Customers report that the payment machine does not reliably dispense change or accept cards ("Nothing works for change/card etc."), leading to lost money and inability to fully utilize the bays. One customer lost $10, highlighting a significant issue with the payment system.

  • Ineffective Air Dryers: A review explicitly mentions, "air dryers did not dry My vehicle," indicating that even when the washing process might occur, the final drying stage is insufficient.

  • Lack of Customer Service or Contact: Customers have expressed frustration over the absence of any contact information (phone number, email, or owner's name) on the premises or via online searches. This makes it impossible to report issues, seek refunds for lost money, or inquire about repairs. The review "no one to be responsible to give me back my change" strongly emphasizes this point.

  • Persistent, Unresolved Issues: The recurring "Update" comments from a reviewer over more than a year strongly suggest that known operational problems, even after reported changes in ownership, remain unaddressed, leading to a consistently poor experience for users.

These significant and prolonged functional failures overshadow any intended positive features, making the current state of the Car & Truck Wash in Mazon a major concern for potential users.

For those in Mazon, Illinois, looking to contact or locate the Car & Truck Wash, here is the available information:

  • Address: 608 East St, Mazon, IL 60444, USA

Based on customer reviews, it is important to note that direct contact information such as a phone number or email for the owner/management appears to be unavailable or not easily found at the location itself or through common online searches. Customers have specifically mentioned:

  • "I looked for a number on building to call..."

  • "I looked up on Google maps an there is no email, phone, or even name of owner???"

This lack of easily accessible contact information poses a significant challenge for customers who encounter issues, such as lost money or non-functional equipment, as there is no clear channel for resolution or inquiry. Therefore, while the physical address provides location, direct communication with the facility's operators seems to be highly limited or non-existent based on public data.

For the residents of Mazon, Illinois, the Car & Truck Wash at 608 East St, while ideally positioned to serve local needs, currently presents significant challenges that make it largely unsuitable for reliable vehicle cleaning. While a local, self-service wash designed for both cars and trucks would typically be a great asset in a community like Mazon, the consistent and severe operational failures reported by multiple users paint a concerning picture.

The most critical issue for locals is the persistent lack of essential cleaning agents, namely soap and wax. As customer reviews unequivocally state, for over a year, the wash has frequently provided "nothing works but the rinse." This means that customers are essentially paying for a high-pressure water spray, rather than a full wash, which is fundamentally inadequate for effective vehicle cleaning. For Illinois drivers, who need to remove everything from road grime to winter salt, a wash without soap fails to meet basic expectations.

Compounding this problem is the unreliable payment system, with reports of the change machine being problematic and bays "taking money and never opened" or not registering payment correctly. This directly results in financial loss for users with no recourse, as there is "no one to be responsible to give me back my change" due to the complete lack of accessible contact information for the owner or management. This situation creates a frustrating and untrustworthy experience for local patrons.

Furthermore, the reported ineffectiveness of the air dryers means that even if a partial wash is achieved, vehicles are left wet, potentially leading to water spots, especially in areas with hard water. The consistent nature of these unresolved issues, spanning across reported changes in ownership, indicates a severe and prolonged lack of maintenance and customer care.

While the location in Mazon is convenient and the concept of a self-service car and truck wash is appealing for local vehicle owners, the current state of the Car & Truck Wash on East St makes it an unreliable and potentially costly choice. Until significant and sustained improvements are made to ensure all services are consistently functional, and effective customer support channels are established, locals in Mazon would be better served by exploring alternative car wash options in nearby towns like Morris, as some frustrated customers have advised. A car wash should solve a problem, not create new ones, and based on the current feedback, this facility falls short of providing a satisfactory service for the Illinois community it intends to serve.
