For those living in or frequently visiting The Grove neighborhood, a local car wash can be an invaluable asset. The Grove Wash provides this autonomy, allowing you to manage the cleaning process yourself, though customer feedback suggests paying close attention to machine functionality.
Ultimately, this overview is designed to assist St. Louis residents in understanding what to expect from The Grove Wash. We believe in providing factual information to help you navigate your local car care options efficiently and effectively, ensuring you have the details necessary to decide if this particular car wash meets your needs for a sparkling clean ride in the heart of Missouri.
The Grove Wash is conveniently located at 1175 S Kingshighway Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63110, USA. This address places it within "The Grove" neighborhood, a dynamic and well-known district in St. Louis. Kingshighway Boulevard is a major north-south artery in the city, making the car wash highly accessible from various parts of St. Louis and the surrounding areas in Missouri. Its strategic location means it's likely on a route you already frequent, whether you're commuting, running errands, or visiting other local businesses in The Grove.
The Grove neighborhood itself is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, featuring a diverse array of restaurants, bars, shops, and cultural attractions. Being situated in such an active area contributes to the car wash's accessibility. For St. Louis residents, this location offers the convenience of combining a car wash with other daily activities, reducing the need for separate trips. You can easily swing by for a wash before or after enjoying what The Grove has to offer.
Public transportation also serves the Kingshighway corridor, potentially providing alternative ways to access the vicinity, although direct public transport to the car wash entrance specifically might vary. Driving is typically the primary mode of access for car washes. The proximity to major roads ensures that whether you're coming from the south, like Tower Grove Park, or from areas further north in St. Louis, reaching The Grove Wash should be straightforward. This ease of access is a key factor for local users in Missouri looking for practical car care solutions.
While the location is advantageous, it's worth noting that customer reviews sometimes mention issues with parked cars or traffic cones blocking stalls, which could temporarily impact accessibility to individual washing bays. Despite this, the central positioning on a main thoroughfare generally makes it a visible and easy-to-find destination for anyone in the St. Louis area needing car cleaning services.
The Grove Wash, like many self-service car washes, offers facilities designed for hands-on vehicle cleaning. Based on customer reviews, certain aspects of their services are highlighted, both positive and areas that could see improvement:
- Self-Service Car Wash Bays: These bays typically provide various washing functions, allowing users to apply soap, rinse, and more. A notable feature mentioned by one customer is the availability of hot water in at least one bay, which can be a significant advantage, especially during colder months in Missouri, for a more effective clean. However, feedback also indicates that there might be a limited number of operational bays or that some bays are frequently out of order.
- Vacuum Stations: Most car washes include vacuum stations for interior cleaning. While these are likely available, customer reviews suggest issues with the functionality of change machines, which could impact the ability to use the vacuums.
- Change Machines: Users rely on these machines for converting bills into quarters, which are essential for operating self-service equipment. Multiple reviews consistently mention that the change machines are frequently broken, posing a significant inconvenience for customers attempting to pay for services.
Prospective users should be aware that while the basic services are offered, the reliability of the equipment has been a recurring concern in customer feedback. It's advisable for St. Louis residents to be prepared for potential operational issues and to consider bringing ample quarters directly, as the change machines may not always be functional.
The Grove Wash presents several features and highlights that are important for St. Louis locals to consider when choosing a car wash. While some aspects are appealing, it's essential to balance these with reported customer experiences to form a complete picture:
- Hot Water Availability: A significant highlight mentioned by at least one customer is that the self-service car wash bays offer hot water. This is a considerable advantage for effective cleaning, especially for removing tough grime and dirt, and can be particularly appreciated during cooler weather in Missouri.
- Self-Service Control: The facility likely provides the flexibility of self-service, allowing individuals to control the washing process themselves, from applying soap to rinsing. This can appeal to those who prefer to customize their car wash experience.
- Prime Real Estate Location: As noted by a reviewer, the car wash occupies a prime piece of real estate on Kingshighway Boulevard within The Grove neighborhood. This location is highly visible and easily accessible, making it convenient for many St. Louis residents.
- Potential for Improvement: Despite reported issues, there's an underlying sentiment from customers that the location has significant potential if systems were upgraded and maintained. This suggests that the fundamental infrastructure for a successful car wash is present.
- Local Presence: Being a local business in The Grove, it serves the immediate community, which can be a draw for residents who prefer to support neighborhood establishments.
It's crucial to acknowledge that these features are presented in light of recurrent customer feedback about broken equipment, dirty premises, and non-functional change machines. While the hot water and self-service model are positive aspects, the consistency of their availability and the overall functionality of the facility appear to be significant challenges that potential users in St. Louis should be aware of before visiting.
For any inquiries or to learn more about The Grove Wash, you can refer to the following contact information. Please note that based on public reviews, it might be beneficial to observe the facility upon arrival regarding the functionality of their equipment.
Address: 1175 S Kingshighway Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63110, USA
Phone: While a specific public phone number for The Grove Wash was not widely available in the provided snippets, for many self-service establishments, on-site contact information or an attendant might be present during certain hours. In the absence of a direct phone number, visiting the location is the primary way to engage with the service.
It is always recommended to check for signage on-site for any updated contact details or operational information, especially concerning hours of operation or if a local attendant is available for assistance. Given the feedback about maintenance issues, direct observation or seeking local community insights might be more effective than relying solely on potentially outdated online information for this type of self-service establishment.
For St. Louis locals seeking a car wash, The Grove Wash on S Kingshighway Blvd presents itself as a conveniently located option within the vibrant Grove neighborhood. Its prime real estate ensures easy access for residents navigating the city's thoroughfares. For those who prefer a hands-on approach to vehicle cleaning, the self-service bays offer the flexibility to tackle car grime at your own pace. The reported presence of hot water in at least one bay is a notable advantage, particularly for effective cleaning in various weather conditions common in Missouri.
However, it is crucial for locals to approach The Grove Wash with tempered expectations, informed by the consistent customer feedback. Recurring themes in reviews highlight issues such as frequently broken equipment, including change machines and car wash bays, as well as concerns about overall cleanliness and organization (e.g., random parked cars or cones blocking stalls). This suggests that while the convenience of location is strong, the reliability of a fully functional experience may be inconsistent.
For St. Louis residents who are flexible and perhaps prepared to bring their own quarters, and who prioritize location and the option of hot water in a self-service format, The Grove Wash could still be a viable choice. It might be most suitable for those seeking a quick, no-frills wash and who are willing to check the operational status of the equipment upon arrival. Supporting local businesses is important, and for The Grove Wash to continue serving its community effectively, addressing the reported maintenance and operational issues would undoubtedly enhance its suitability for more locals. For now, it remains a self-service car wash option that requires a degree of adaptability from its users in Missouri.

Rating 5Rating 4Rating 3Rating 2Rating 1Never been here when something wasn't broken. They really just don't care. Whole place is always dirty, change machines at a minimum are nearly always broken.Just now I pulled up and there are random parked cars with traffic cones in front of them (no idea why they store cars here) in every stall but one, and the one not blocked is out of order.Cash businesses are a good way to launder money, hard to think of any other reason why this place exists, it's certainly not to make money off car washes.
April 29 - Shawn MIt's a somewhat decent carwash, depending on the day. Self car wash has hot water which I LOVE, but only one bay???I hope the owners realize this is prime real estate for a car wash and upgrade their systems. I work with small businesses, so I know it can be a struggle sometimes. Contact me if you need any marketing/management resources.
January 09 - Cardell SpencerOne bay of the self wash was open. Then most of the features did not work. The timer was broken. Tire wheel clean broken. Very run down .Wanted to do a spot free rinse. Broken. Talked with the attendant about getting a few quarters back waiting for some features offered but ignored. Tire wheel clean broken. Went there last year. It has gone down hill.
October 12 - Clifford FriendYou get a lot more wash time for your money here than you do at the other place down the road. It's hard to get a big SUV parked in the bay though. Lot is kinda small.
April 14 - Scott WanagerNot recommended unless you want to part with your 10$ for no reason3$ car wash at airport parking was a way better experience.Bugs (fresh) and dirt from undercarriage ( which I paid for an undercarriage wash) and front bumper are still sticking on quite well. Don't believe that there was even an undercarriage rinse. The owner was at least courteous while another guy who seemed to be his relative was rude for no reason.
